Death

A MUSH is an interactive, cooperative game, not a competition. There is no winning or losing, and as a non-competitive environment, no player-killing. All characters on the MUSH have consensual death, the same as everyone has consensual RP in general. As long as you have consensual death, your character can't die unless you want it to. By the same token, you can't kill anyone else without their consent. Do note that actual DEATH is different than the Wounded status that happens when someone's HP reaches 0%.

Do not abuse this policy. For instance, don't infiltrate the enemy guildhall and take a shot at the meister while surrounded by a bunch of his angry friends, then claim consensual death and demand that they let you escape. That's just twinking, plain and simple. If, however, you legitimately end up in a situation where your character could die, this policy is here to protect you.

Note that it is YOUR responsibility as much as the other players' to come up with a reason that your character shouldn't die. In some cases, it could even involve a whole TP. Basically, if you're not willing to put some effort into explaining how you survived, then don't get into a situation where you could die in the first place.

There are, however, circumstances that can result in loss of consensual death. You will not lose consensual death without CLEAR prior notice from the staff, so don't worry about it being yanked or anything. Loss of consensual death is chiefly an OOC result of someone doing something potentially fatal — a Fire Tribe Thief selling out his Kingdom to the Chaos Legion, for instance — without previously working it out with the other parties involved.

If you lose consensual death in this manner, it basically means that the other players have free reign to kill you if they so desire, as long as it happens in the course of realistic RP. You don't get any concrete say in the matter. Since this usually isn't really much fun, please be considerate and don't consistently do crazy stuff that could get you killed without working it out with the other people involved first.

Death is final. If you die, you're dead. Period. If you wanted a TP to have your character redeemed and retrieved from Pandaemonium… well, that was something you needed to get approved BEFORE you got killed. Sensing a theme? Just work WITH the other players rather than just alongside them, and you should be fine; after all, we're all here to have fun in a cooperative environment, even if our character choices aren't the most heroic.
