Setting
dissidia-intro.jpg

The world of Dissidia, once the setting of a never-ending cycle of war between the Goddess of Harmony, Cosmos and the God of Discord, Chaos, is now a much different place than the world it once was. Though still the setting of a war, the direct influence of the gods is no longer felt, fallout from their final God War, an event lost to the eons. A beautiful world of tall mountains, green valleys and forests, high fantasy and magitech advancements; airships fly the skies, ships sail the seas, and Engineers create wonders for the world. Kingdoms rule in benevolent alliances, unified against the common threat of the Fiends and other servants of Chaos; Guilds promote the hunting of monsters, the development of magical techniques, and the forging of magical and mundane equipment.

Fiends gather and stalk the land, organized under their more evolved and intelligent brethren, as well as those of the Four Tribes who willingly serve the God of Discord, seeking to advance their position and power, as well as Chaos' influence, in the world. But fifty years ago, something changed; rather than simply be content to disturb the harmony of the Tribes and their Kingdoms, the Fiends and Tribesmen who ally themselves with them have become more aggressive. More driven. The servants of Chaos allied themselves into a single cohesive group; calling themselves the 'Chaos Legion,' they spread across the face of Dissidia, striking at the homes and lives of the Tribesmen. In the face of this monstrous alliance, the Tribesmen received visions from their Goddess; Cosmos sent to her followers visions, further driving those who already fought the Legion to protect their friends, family and Kingdoms. The Crystal Alliance was formed by the Tribesmen loyal to Cosmos and her ideals, and the two armies have been at war ever since.

But, twenty years ago, a great tragedy struck both armies; in a battle over what many in the Legion believed to be the entryway to the resting place of the Crystal, the greatest warriors and Fiends of both armies simply vanished. The past two decades has been focused by the rulers of the Tribesmen Kingdoms and the Chaos Legion on replenishing their shattered forces; skirmishes and battles still happen, but both sides have been taking it more slowly now, feeling out their enemies for advantages.

The Chaos Legion has one goal in mind: the devastation and conquer of Dissidia, the subjugation of the Tribesmen not loyal to Chaos, and the capture of the Crystal of Harmonic Dissonance, wherever it may be. The Legion believes that when Dissidia falls, Chaos can move beyond the Void, beyond this single world to the worlds that he continues to dream of to this day. Because if Dissidia falls, all the worlds that he dreams of, that he is connected to Cosmos through, can fall, and all can be reduced to the Void.

The Crystal Alliance seeks to defend against and defeat the Chaos Legion. So named because of it's focus: to protect the mythical Crystal that is, in essence, the soul of Dissidia, the Alliance protects the lives, livelihoods and Kingdoms of their Tribesmen brethren. Against the Fiends and Tribesmen allied with the God of Discord, they strive to push back the darkness, to keep it from overcoming and consuming their world. The two armies clash, against a backdrop of a pristine world simply trying to exist. But which side will win? Which God's army will become victorious, and, will Dissidia survive the
experience?
